On a sunny June Saturday, members of our association took part in a professional excursion to Lake Wörthersee and a few nearby villages. One of these is the home of Christian Zeichen, a Slovene from Carinthia, on whose initiative groups of Carinthian tourists have been coming to Gradež for several years, so we wanted to return his visit somehow.

Thus, we got to know in more detail this part of the cross-border community that preserves the Slovenian language, culture and heritage. With Christian and local guide Sonja, we were hiking through picturesque Vrba and learned a lot about the history of the place, the castle hotel and other important buildings.

We visited Drabosnjak's home (everyday culture) in the village of Kostanje (Köstenberg), where a collection of about 400 objects, tools and devices from everyday life from the period from the last quarter of the 19th to the second half of the 20th century is exhibited.

We took a free boat ride on Lake Wörth, which was the credit of the local mayor, and saw Wörthersee and its mighty buildings from another angle. At the moving farewell with Christian, we promised ourselves more meetings at him or at us.

Although our bus broke down on the way back, we returned home in good spirits with a replacement bus and with new ideas on how to arrange our collection of old tools in a similar way as we saw in Drabosnjak's home.
