On Saturday, June 9th, we took part in a excursion of our association to Gorenjska. We visited the Pustotnik farm and cheese factory, and toured the Visoko mansion and the underground fortress of the Rupnik Line.
First, we stopped at the modernly equipped and managed farm and cheese factory Pustotnik in Gorenja vas, where we were welcomed by a friendly local daughter. She explained
the history of the cheese factory, the work system on the farm, and showed us everything. They prepared a delicious tasting of the different types of cheese they make, as well as some spreads and dry salami, and homemade apple juice was also on offer.
The second tour was to Visoko Manor, whose last private owner was the writer Ivan Tavčar, and which is now owned by the municipality of Gorenja vas - Poljane. The local guide showed us the manor and told us the main information from its history, we also saw a lot of pictorial material about the manor and Ivan Tavčar.
The last tour was dedicated to the underground fortress of the Rupnik Line. In the 1930s, an extensive system of fortifications was built by the Kingdom of Yugoslavia as a defensive line on the border with the Kingdom of Italy. It was named after General Leon Rupnik. There, too, a local guide gave us a comprehensive explanation of the process and goals of building the fortifications, which never served their purpose. We looked at pictures and the remains of the unfinished construction.
